REIKI And The Ins And Outs Of Illness
Updated: Sep 22, 2019
Reiki was never intended to be a quick fix...
It would be an understatement to say that we live in an age where quick results are expected, if not demanded. Pain = take a pill NOW for immediate results. Get back to living life at its fullest, NOW! It's akin to chopping the head off a weed, leaving the roots to grow, adapt, and often mutate in other directions. Not that there's anything wrong with quick relief. But this one-size-fits-all, essentially band-aid styled approach can be misleading and dangerously ineffective when treating chronic conditions.
Did you know that reiki in its original guise (in Japan, where the modality originates in this form), is traditionally used in clinics, where practitioners treat patients daily up to several months to alleviate their conditions. All forms of illness are treated successfully in these clinics. This direct and constant approach builds the pranic energy (chi or ki) within the client to such an extent that the roots of the disease begin to surface, be experienced, and leave—or handled—in whatever form that may take.
Here's an example from my own experience as a reiki channel. A few years ago I had the opportunity to treat a client twice a day for ten days in his own home. He was in stage 4 of a so-called incurable form of cancer. After the first couple of days I noticed the flow of reiki to really lift in vibration. It became a palpable 'shudder' in both my experience and his. These intense vibrations would begin as soon as the session began. He began to dream again, after not having had recall of his dreams for years. The dreams we're very specific and targeted in their meaning. Patterns emerged. When I treated his abdomen, his 10 year old son would throw a tantrum, wherever he was in the house. And it was a big house. The energy continued to build, not only within his body but around it. Clear pictures and scenes came into my mind when treating him. They were unshakeable. I let him know what I saw, that he'd suffered certain abuse as a child. He denied it. It felt appropriate to tell him as he was serious about this process having invited me to stay with him and his family during it. The next day he admitted that this had in fact occurred, for years, starting when he was around 10 years of age. You see his son was resonating with this buried trauma every time I treated his abdomen. Working in such close proximity to a client's family gave me a keen insight into how connected we truly are on the levels of resonance and healing, particularly in the constellation of families. This unearthing of trauma saw an immediate improvement in the father-son relationship as well.
Now this illness had of course built up over time, and it became clear that certain specifics in his life would have to change for the release of it to have a chance of healing. He could see this, but chose not to make that change. It is after all everyone's own journey.
The point of all this is to give you a truer insight into the potential of reiki. Sure, it is absolutely lovely every now and then to have a session to relax and gain more overall clarity, and I would recommend that. But the truer unrealised potency of reiki has so much more to offer in our society if only we'd take the journey.
Over the years I've worked with a number of people, in this intense fashion, and have witnessed remarkable results. A couple of sessions a week over the space of a few months can be quite literally life saving. Would you expect to get fit after only a couple of visits to a gym? Why would that be any different with healing?
